Our Club
The Northern Ireland Charolais Club was founded in the early 60’s to promote the breed and provide a service to breeders in the province. Club members have the opportunity to enter animals for club shows and sales which are run under the auspices of the British Charolais Society and under National Beef Association rules. Competitions with valuable prize money are also orgnanised eg, the Dectomax competition for young stock which is run off at the various summer shows with a grand final at Clogher Valley Show and the Northern Ireland National Charolais Show at Fintona.
To highlight the impact of the Charolais breed in the commercial herd the club organises suckled calf competitions at various marts and sponsors classes at a number of commercial Christmas shows throughout the province. If you have pedigree Charolais cattle registered with the British Charolais Society, you can have the opportunity to promote these to best advantage through the NI Charolais Club. You will also be kept informed of other activities such as young members stock judging competitions, meetings, open days, farm visits and social events. If you are a commercial beef producer do not hesitate to contact us regarding suckled calf competitions or a catalogue for one of our sales etc. For a membership application form for pedigree breeders contact: The Secretary, Cuinne an Chaireil, 27 Berwick View, Moira BT67 0SX.
