Society Chairman Launches Extravaganza
The sun shone on the beautiful picturesque grounds adjoining the Ecclesville Centre Fintona this week when the NI Charolais Club launched the NI National Charolais Show at Fintona on 3 September. An impressive line-up of existing sponsors and some new sponsors representing all aspects of the agriculture and food industry.
Welcoming the sponsors to the launch, Martin Donaghy, Newly elected Chairman of the British Charolais Society said “The NI Charolais Club National Show at Fintona is one of the most spectacular shows in the Province. This event has grown over the years and has witnessed changes each year to ensure its continued appeal to both exhibitors and spectators. Sponsors who are involved with our breed and the agri food industry are therefore eager to be associated with the event and this is borne out by the many new sponsors on board this year.” “The club wish to thank you for your support and interest and hope that you will find your sponsorship worthwhile. We also wish you continued success and growth in your business.” Mr Donaghy stated.
Sandra Cochrane, first ever Lady Chairperson of the NI Charolais Club also commented that there will be a Young Handlers Competition this year at the National Charolais Show, commencing at 4pm. “we actively encourage young people to become involved in shows and events and especially the Charolais Breed and this is a wonderful opportunity for young people both pedigree and commercial to put their handling skills to the test and all participants will receive a prize!” Sandra herself is an ardent fan of young handling and judging competitions.
Whether a farmer is preparing cattle for a show, finishing cattle commercially or trying to maintain a tight calving index, Natural Nutrition have the products to help. Two of the distributors attended the launch, Jack Maguire of JM Livestock Care, and Robert Wright of Wright Agri. They will have a trade stand at the NI National Charolais Show which will have their very successful Natural Nutrition products such as Muscleright , Cow Fertility etc available. Many Charolais breeders regularly use the Natural Nutrition products.
A N Irwin, the animal feed company based at Benburb, is no stranger to the farming fraternity and to the Charolais breed, sponsoring a Club Sale in Dungannon for the Charolais breed and well as a class at the national Show at Fintona. This company has a UFAS approved mill and has built a reputation for quality animal feeds and a dedicated service to the farmer. Many of the past show champions at the event have been fed on Irwins feed.
Teemore Engineering has been a sponsor since the show’s inception and farmers will be keen to speak to them at the event this year. They will have their new de luxe cubicle which is renowned for animal comfort, and especially for the larger animal, on show. In addition to their Cozy mattress they will also have two new mattresses on show , a pure rubber mattress and a laytex one. They will again have their other very successful products including their head lock, manufactured by Jourdain who are world leaders in cattle handling equipment.

In her concluding remarks Sandra reiterated the British Society’s Chairman’s comments, thanking the sponsors for their commitment to the National Charolais Show at Fintona and looked forward to the young handling competition and to the large entry of the cream of Charolais Cattle from all over Northern Ireland expected at the prestigious event.
