  • Friday, 18 April 2008 15:29

Visitors to Clogher Valley Show for the past two years have commented on the wonderful line-up of white cattle at one end of the show grounds . The grand final of the Dectomax Charolais championships has brought out the very best young Charolais cattle from around the province and Clogher Valley Show committee has enabled these to be shown to best advantage.

Small wonder then that the grand final of the 2008 competition will be held at Clogher Valley Show on Wednesday 30 July. John McGrath, chairman of the NI Charolais Club, speaking at the launch of this year’s competition said “ We are indebted to Clogher Valley Show for putting so much effort into running the final of our competition. In the past two years they have given the Charolais breed a dedicated ring and also space to mount our own exhibition marquee. Last year when ground conditions were difficult after the wet summer they moved our show ring to ensure that we could still show the cattle in the final. Clogher Valley Show attracts a very large audience so it is the ideal venue for our final.”

Frank McCrystal, Pfizer Animal Health who manufacture Dectomax and sponsor the competition said that he was delighted to support a competition that brought out such a wonderful display of cattle and helped highlight the success of Dectomax in the control of parasitic diseases.

Nicholas Lowry , show chairman , Noel Erskine, vice chairman, Harrison Boyd, Cattle Committee chairman and Show Secretary, Ruth Montgomery attended the launch and ensured that all arrangements were in place for the grand final.
